HELSINKI, Jan 20, 2011 (AFP) - Finnish design house IVANAhelsinki said Thursday that it has reached an out-of-court settlement on the use of its brand name with Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of US real estate mogul Donald Trump.

Trump filed a lawsuit last year claiming that designer and company founder Paola Suhonen, whose middle name is also Ivana, was using the name without permission.

"Ms. Trump will continue her business ventures with the name Ivana Trump, and we will continue with our name IVANAhelsinki, but we will spell it a little differently," company producer and the designer's sister Pirjo Suhonen told AFP.

She said that in the US market only, the brand name will be spelled with a hyphen after the word "Ivana".

"Going into litigation in the US is very expensive. The best solution was that we could settle it out of court," Pirjo Suhonen added.

The Suhonen sisters established the company in 1988 and registered the brand name in Europe.

The designer showcased her line in the New York Fall Fashion Week for the first time last year, and will display her new collection as the closing show in New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week on February 17.
