Fashion's great Danes rock the runway at Copenhagen Fashion Week

After Paris Haute Couture and Amsterdam fashion week, the focus shifted to Denmark's finest designers as they unveiled their Fall 2015 ready-to-wear collections through Sunday.

This season, the international press and buyers flocked to not one but two main runway show venues. Both were located in historic buildings in the heart of Copenhagen: City Hall and the old Copenhagen Stock Exchange.

Anne Sofie Madsen and Barbara I Gongini presented their womenswear and menswear lines at original fashion show venue City Hall while the Stock Exchange hosted Ivan Grundahl and Great Greenland among other big Danish luxury labels.

One of Denmark's oldest luxury apparel outfitters Fonnesbech kicked off the line-up with a polished spin on modern elegance featuring beige funnel neck dresses and a double-breasted coat while Maikel Tawadros presented a collection of edgy, asymmetrical layered looks and fabric combinations. Standout pieces included a knitted sweater dress with long-trailing dip hem and a chic long black overcoat with voluminous dramatic fur sleeves.

Copenhagen Fashion Week designer Charlotte Eskildsen who heads Danish label Designers Remix, sensationally embraced the continuing trend for cobalt blue, working the bold hue into everything from dresses to sweaters and sheer pleated layered skirts making a departure from her trademark androgynous tailoring.

Baum und Pferdgarden also offered a more grown-up version of their avant-garde aesthetic. Renowned for the quirkiness and wearability of their clothing, the designer duo worked with less color and prints (this season, limiting themselves to burgundy zigzag patterns and navy pinstripe) than previously seen.

Other highlights included graphic prints by Henrik Vibskov, a long layered earthy wine red roll-neck, long skirt ensemble by Malene Birger, reminiscent of Pantone's color for 2015 -- "Marsala", and sensational couture-inspired looks by fashion houses Mark Kenly Domino Tan and Nicklas Skovgaard.
