Fashion Enter has taken over Gloria Fashions, a clothing manufacturer which has produced garments for high-profile fashion brands including Aquascutum, Mulberry, Whistles and Jaeger.

It comes after CEO Jenny Holloway predicted that retailers will require more on-shore production amid uncertain economic and political times in the UK at a lecture organised by EEF last week.

Fashion Enter announced the takeover via Fashion Capital, its online content platform, on Friday.

Talking about Gloria Fashions, which was established in 1956 by Robert and George King and is now run by David King, Holloway commented: “To me Gloria Fashions has always been a bastion for high quality reliable production and to now have the opportunity to work alongside David is just fantastic news for the industry.”

King added: “To now be working in the new Government Tailoring Academy with Fashion Enter means I can pass on decades of skills and expertise to a new generation. I have long admired Jenny for the work she does on education. This is a new exciting chapter and nothing will change for our clients. We are going to carry on making even more production as we have record orders now.”

Fashion Enter is preparing to open a Tailoring Academy in Spring 2019 next to its Fashion Technology Academy in Harringay, London. The training centre will offer qualifications from Level 1 to 5 as well as apprenticeships.
