Frockadvisor, the app started by Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon, is an app that connects fashion lovers with their favourite independent boutiques. And on May 28 the founders are celebrating small stores by launching Fashion Independents' Day in London.

The idea is to support local businesses by asking customers to visit them on Thursday, see what's on offer and meet the people behind the stores. The event first took place in Ireland just over a month ago.

The CEO of the British Fashion Council said: “There are hundreds of independent retailers across the country that are not only responsible for supporting British design talent but in some cases are the launch pads for the success of some of these businesses. The support of campaigns like frockadvisor’s – Fashion Independents’ Day shine the spotlight on the importance of the independent retail sector by driving awareness and sales for the businesses at the heart of its success."

Frockadvisor is also holding a Fashion Grand Prix on the day, which will see Antonia O’Brien, Zoe Hardman, Vogue Williams, Susie Lau, Nick Ede, Danielle Peazer, Simon G, and Princess Julia going to as many independent boutiques as possible in London, taking selfies and posting on social media. Whoever trends highest will be named the winner.
