Farfetch and Restory join forces for aftercare push

Sustainability remains a key focus for retailers and brands and is likely to be an even bigger one post-pandemic, which is why it’s interesting that The Restory and Farfetch have announced a new link-up to power the luxury e-tailer’s aftercare offer.

The Restory

The new service, called Farfetch Fix, will be provided directly by UK-based The Restory, which has developed a wide range of techniques to repair and restore shoes, bags and leather goods.

It’s part of Farfetch’s wider aim to become the key “platform for good” in luxury fashion and it said that "extending the life of luxury purchases is key to making the industry more sustainable, and aftercare services enable this by allowing customers to repair and revive their existing pieces rather than automatically looking to buy new ones”.

While that may seem to be counterintuitive for a company committed to selling as much as it can, the fact is that modern consumers expect sustainability to be a big focus. And keeping consumers in Farfetch’s orbit is clearly important too, something that the Restory link-up supports.

Farfetch said it’s committed to becoming “more circular than linear” by 2030, “as part of its recently launched 2030 sustainability goals, and growing services like Farfetch Fix that enable the circular economy is key to meeting this target”.

The service has been designed to be easy for customers with them able to book a collection for the items they want restored directly from within the Farfetch website. Restory will then securely transport the client's items to its London atelier, where the team will assess the items and quote for their recommended services. Following approval from the customer, its team of “specialist artisans will then begin the required work”. Once complete, the items are returned, “beautifully packaged, to a preferred address”.
