German activewear brand Oceansapart has appointed Superdry’s former chief operating officer Silvana Bonello as its new chief executive and joint MD. She’ll join the Berlin-based business in the second half of 2023.

In her new role, Bonello will work with the brand’s leadership team “to implement its next-stage growth strategy focused on delivering trendy and functional athleisure products to its customers to support empowered women focusing on diversity and inclusivity”.

She succeeds Henry Brodski, the firm’s CFO and MD who’s been interim CEO since the company’s founders handed over responsibility to its management team last year.

Brodski is credited with having “successfully shaped the set-up of the company’s strategy during its current growth phase”, which included the opening of Oceansapart’s first off-line pop-up store in Nürnberg. He’ll stay on in his MD role.

The company sells shapewear, loungewear, activewear and accessories, primarily targeting Gen Y and Gen Z women customers in German-speaking parts of Europe pus France, Italy, Poland, and Spain.

Bonello had been with Superdry since 2021 as COO, playing a key role in the company’s ongoing turnaround strategy. She was previously VP Planning and Operations at Vans for a little over two years, and spent 18 years at Nike in various senior roles.
