London, Brussels and Luxembourg are the three richest nations in Europe, according to a ranking by Eurostat based on local GDP. The ranking unsurprisingly demonstrates the persistent gap between Western and Eastern Europe.

The study, based on figures from 2013, shows regional GDPs per capita ranging from, on the one hand, Mayotte (27% of the European average) to Inner London (325% of the average).

London is followed by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (258%), Brussels (207%), Hamburg (195%), Groningen, the Netherlands (187%), Bratislava (184%), Stockholm, Sweden (179%), Île de France, France (175%), and Prague, Czech Republic (173%).

At the bottom of the ranking: Mayotte, behind by many regions in Poland, Hungary and Romania, including Severozapaden (30%), Severen tsentralen (31%), and Yuzhen tsentralen (32%) in Bulgaria and Romania (34%).
