Etro returning to Milan menswear catwalk in June

The house of Etro will return to the Milan menswear catwalk season in June, after a three-season hiatus where the brand only staged presentations.

The decision will be welcome news for the Camera della Moda, Italian fashion’s governing body, which has seen its menswear season weakened in the past several years, as many Italian brands amalgamated their men’s and women’s collections into co-ed shows, generally presented during the women’s season.

“We announce that Etro’s menswear collection will be presented with a fashion show during the upcoming edition of Milan Fashion Week,” stressed Etro in a release.

Known for its remarkable prints; innovative use of paisley; and classy playfulness, Etro was previously one of the high points of the Milan menswear runway weekend. However, recent Etro events have all been presentations, not runway shows. That said, men's creative director Kean Etro’s Japanese-themed, vagabond chic collection presented inside an elaborate bamboo forest, staged in June 2018, was one of Italy’s best fashion statements last year.

“The return to the catwalk of the menswear collection, under the creative direction of Kean Etro, once again reflects Etro’s constant renewal following its 50th anniversary celebrations. The Spring/Summer 2020 fashion show will be held on Sunday June 16th,” added the release from the family-owned house.

The next Milano Moda Uomo will be staged from June 14 to 17, 2019.
