ESW names new head for Europe and UK

Published
Dec 20, 2022

Cross-border shopping specialist ESW has named Martim Avillez Oliveira as its CEO for Europe and the UK. And the DTC e-commerce business has also announced other strategic hires for its European leadership team to drive regional expansion.

Martim Avillez Oliveira - ESW

Martim Avillez Oliveira joined the firm in 2020 as an advisory board member, and previously held the role of European Chief Commercial Officer.

The company said that as CEO for the region, he “continues his work building the ESW brand and expanding its commercial presence, sales and partnership capabilities”.

He’s a former Executive VP at global supply chain and logistics giant Li & Fung, and consequently has 15 years of industry experience in retail and global sourcing. During that time he worked with big names, including Inditex, M&S, J Crew and Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, managing end-to-end supply chains.

The other changes to its management include former Global Commercial Group lead at Klarna, Alan Clarke, joining ESW in the vacant Chief Commercial Officer – Europe post.

And as ESW “evolves into a new phase of growth, following the acquisition of Scalefast earlier in 2022, and its entire ecosystem evolves accordingly”, Neil Ward also joins the leadership team as Chief Transformation Officer.

He has over two decades of "diverse transformation and change experience” and will spearhead the evolution of ESW’s technical offer “as it innovates to deliver even more ROI and drive competitive advantage for its international brand and retail partners”.

Founder and company CEO Tommy Kelly said the appointments “further advance our bold vision to empower Europe’s leading brands, across apparel, footwear, leisure, cosmetics, accessories, luxury and consumer electronics, as they supercharge their DTC channels to unlock the huge latent demand from global consumers for their products”.
