Esprit involves franchisees in its e-commerce

Espirit is focusing on multichannel and the retail brand is taking another step this summer by offering a commission on online sales to its franchise partners.

Worldwide, Esprit has 1,258 franchise stores as compared to 907 directly managed stores. In Germany, it has 278 franchise stores, 137 in Benelux and 133 in France. To resolve the e-commerce dilemma with respect to its partners, Esprit has decided to recognize and thereby remunerate their work in developing loyal customers.

The system is based on a loyalty card, which is held by over 6 million customers. A franchisee will receive fees with respect to purchases made by customers using their loyalty card. The commission may be around 5%. "As part of the concept, each franchise partner can automatically create his own online business without investing or taking risks, while earning commissions on sales generated by the friends that it has acquired," said the company.

To turn its e-shop into an additional showcase, Esprit intends to also develop click&collect, e-reservations, inventory management, communication-related e-commerce... This will now be supported by Esprit’s budget derived from commissions.
