Eres and Chloé team up for capsule collection

Eres and Chloé have announced a collaboration. For Spring/Summer 2023, Chanel-owned high-end swimwear, lingerie and activewear label Eres has partnered with Chloé, the fashion label owned by Swiss luxury group Richemont, whose style is overseen by creative director Gabriela Hearst, known for her sustainable designs. Together, they are launching a capsule collection of swimsuits, beachwear and beach accessories developed with a high degree of sustainability in mind.

“Gabriela Hearst wanted to create swimsuits of the highest quality and instinctively chose to partner with Eres and her creative director, Marie-Paule Minchelli, to create a line of swimsuits and bikinis. While Chloé has created a range of essential beachwear items,” the two labels said in a press release.

The collection consists of about 20 chic and simple items, including one-piece swimsuits priced at around €700 and various bikinis priced between €500 and €600, a pair of sandals at €590, a bra, a shirt and a long skirt, priced at €1,450 and €1,390 respectively, both made of linen and enhanced with floral embroidery, a basket tote at €850, a pair of sunglasses and a canvas hat. The colour palette mostly consists of natural hues, from black to white, ochre and brown.

The collection’s swimsuits are notably made in Eres’ signature fabric called 'Peau douce', meaning soft skin. It is both soft and form-fitting, and has been produced for the collection by Eres’ regular Italian supplier, using a natural polyamide derived from castor oil. Linen was the fabric chosen for the garments, because this type of crop “emits less greenhouse gas and requires less water,” as indicated by Eres and Chloé.

The basket tote, with leather handles and removable pouch, is produced in collaboration with Mifuko, a Kenya-based social enterprise that has been working in partnership with Chloé for several seasons. Mifuko ensures that its artisans are financially independent and receive a fair wage. The embroidered sandals and the sunglasses frames are made in tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group. Finally, the hat is made using recycled organic cotton canvas, according to the press release.

The Chloé x Eres collection will be available at the two labels’ stores and on their e-shops from May 5, 2023.

Eres is well-versed in teaming up with other brands for one-off collaborations. It did so recently with Goussens, a jewellery brand that also belongs to Chanel, with which Eres designed a multifunctional belt which can also be worn as a bracelet or necklace, and two sets of earrings whose exotic motifs are inspired by the prints of Eres’ summer collection. Last year, Eres partnered with fashion label Rabih Kayrouz and with Danish footwear brand Scholl, which has since become its footwear supplier.

Also, it recently opened a pop-up space at Le Bon Marché in Paris, part of the department store’s ‘summer markets’ section on the first floor, where it will showcase its summer 2023 collection until June 18.

Eres is currently distributed via some 20 multibrand retailers and 30 monobrand stores. Last year, it opened a new address in Dubai, another in Melbourne, Australia, a store in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades district, and took direct control of its franchised store in Beverly Hills.
