The Portuguese organization Digital Economy Association (IPEA) has joined the European online sales confederation E-commerce Europe, bringing the number of countries it represents to fifteen.

In Portugal, B2C online sales generated 2.9 billion euros in revenue in 2014 - a 13% increase. The amount spent by Portuguese shoppers is the highest among southern European countries, surpassing Spain and Italy with an average of 988 euros spent online each year per online shopper. E-commerce Europe’s lobbying mission in Brussels is thus strengthened with the new addition.

E-commerce Europe unites the Belgian, Czech, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Spanish and Swiss online sales federations.

E-commerce Europe includes 25,000 European companies selling online. The industry generates more than two million direct and indirect jobs across the continent. Europe has 264 million online shoppers, for a combined turnover of 363.1 billion euros.
