Apple Pay, which lets users pay using contactless on their phones and Apple Watches, is usually capped at £30 in the UK. But footwear and accessories retailer Dune has removed the cap in its stores.

This means that Dune customers can now use Apple Pay for transactions of any amount. Dave Abbott, Dune London’s Retail Omni-Channel Manager, commented: “After offering Apple Pay since its UK launch, we are really proud to be one of the first to rollout the ability to use Apple Pay for transactions of any amount across our UK standalone stores. Apple Pay allows a more streamlined payment transaction, adding security and speed to our customer interactions at the cash desk."

"To launch Apple Pay, we have been working with our payment partner Worldpay. We felt it was imperative to offer our customers the ability to make high-value payments with Apple Pay, due to the nature of our average transactions being over £30."

Apple Pay doesn't store card numbers on the Apple device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on the customer's device, and each transaction has a one-time unique security code.
