Dune London outlines reopening plans
Jun 11, 2020
Disposable pop socks and regular cleaning of seating areas are some of the measures Dune London is implementing to ensure customers can try shoes on when selected stores reopen from 15 June.
The footwear retailer said that trying items on is an essential part of the Dune experience.
In addition to encouraging customers to wear disposable pop socks when trying on footwear, the company said all shoes that have been tried on will be disinfected afterwards. This includes returned goods, with boxes and packaging also receiving the same treatment where applicable.
Like other retailers, Dune has installed perspex screens at all checkouts to shield till operators. Additionally, hand sanitisers and masks will be available to customers who wish to use them.
Dune stores in England and Ireland will begin to open from Monday 15 June in line with government guidance, as well as concessions in House of Fraser and Debenhams.
Further locations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland remain closed for now.
As retail businesses prepare for a new normal, footwear specialists have it slightly easier than clothing stores as shoes can be sprayed with disinfectant after being tried on and Schuh has already said it will do that. Fashion stores are trialling various strategies to prevent customers from catching the coronavirus from clothes, including limiting access to fitting rooms, steaming items and quarantined returns.
Schuh, Kurt Geiger and Clarks are also reopening their stores from next Monday.
