The proposal is for one 3,262 sqm. two-level anchor store by Georges Street and a 1,825 sqm. two-level Marine Road anchor store. The Dun Laoghaire centre was opened in 1976 and is Ireland's first multi-storey covered shopping centre. It has an average footfall of 62,000, and this is set to increase after the refurbishment. At the moment, the centre has 45 tenants, including New Look, and Holland & Barrett.

Jason Miller, director of Murphy Mulhall, which is the asset manager and leasing agent for the scheme, said: “We have been in close talks with a number of parties for these superb spaces and getting the grant moves us a step closer to taking Dun Laoghaire back to its rightful position as one of the region‘s ‘go to’ shopping destinations.”

Work on the refurbishment is set to start in the next few months.
