Just days after the news broke of his departure from Mugler, Nicola Formichetti has officially been appointed at artistic director at Diesel. From autumn, the half-Italian, half-Japanese designer will be bringing “fresh, mad, insane ideas” to the brand. "Nicola shares my creative vision, and with his help I hope to continue to break rules, push the envelope and introduce Diesel to an entirely new generation,” stated Rosso. “We’re ripping apart everything to re-build something bigger," added Formichetti.

The meeting of these two branding experts will no doubt be fruitful for Diesel, whose creative teams are going to see some additional new recruits in near future. "I finally met somebody as crazy as I am," said Renzo Rosso. The OTB boss has already handed over control of the DieselReboot - an emerging global creative community on Tumblr - to Formichetti.
