Deckers Outdoor recruiting at Converse

Deckers Outdoor is a group in the midst of expansion. The American group seems to have decided to address the French market in particular, opening a branch in 2011 for their brands Ugg Australia, Teva and Sanuk. A first Parisian boutique should also be created by the end of the year, in the Marais district of Paris.

This operation will be supervised by the new president of the retail group who will thus be responsible for direct distribution and e-commerce. David Powers should assume his functions in the middle of August in this newly created post in the Californian group.

The man is not a novice, neither in the world of footwear, nor in that of retail. Since 2008, he has served as President of Global Direct to Consumer and Licensed Retail at Converse. He was also previously at Timberland where he has served as CEO of global merchandising.

“His experience makes him the ideal person to lead our retail division today,” said Angel Martinez, CEO of the group that will oversee his efforts. “I am confident that he be an invaluable asset as we continue to develop our business worldwide, particularly through the growth which is projected to reach 200 stores by the end of 2015.”

By the end of 2011, the group had 45 stores worldwide of its own or operated by its Chinese joint venture.
