Jan 14, 2016
Sir Ian Cheshire, the British businessman who was the CEO of Kingfisher from 2008-2015, has gotten a new role as non-executive director and Chairman-elect of department store retailer Debenhams.
Current Chairman Nigel Northridge intends to step down from the board in April of this year after two terms in office, to be succeeded by Cheshire on April 7, 2016.
Sir Ian Cheshire said: "Debenhams is back in really great shape and I look forward to joining a very strong board and working with the management team to maximise the many opportunities in the business."
Debenhams, which is the number two department store chain in the UK, beat analysts' expectations over the Christmas period, when it saw like-for-like sales increase by 1.9%.
