Debenhams Christmas ad is first under Boohoo control
Boohoo Group has been putting plenty of support behind Debenhams since it acquired the brand and made it online-only, so it's no surprise that it's now unveiled a major Christmas campaign for the retailer.
The campaign reveal came at the same time as the online retailer officially launched the Debenhams Christmas hub.
Debenhams’ Christmas ads in the past were very much focused on the products and conspicuous consumption. But in line with current trends post-pandemic, there's a more heartwarming edge to this campaign.
The ad is narrated by a young girl and her father and focuses on the importance of togetherness. “Starting by reminiscing on the last year and special moments we’ve all missed out on, the video reminds its audience that in contrast, this year we have the chance to make magical memories with our loved ones”, the company said. “Highlighting the small activities that make the festive season special, the advert encourages us to make this Christmas one to remember, as ‘this year being together is top of the list’.”
Of course, product remains key and the campaign features a family of all ages, “highlighting the wide appeal that Debenhams.com’s Christmas offer has and can offer its customer”.
Featuring matching family pyjamas, Lancôme gift sets, novelty jumpers and sequin partywear, the ad shows “the many different styles of Christmas celebrated by its UK customer base”.
