Crocs appoints Salehe Bembury creative director, Pollex Pod collection

Footwear brand Crocs announced on Wednesday the appointment of visionary industrial designer Salehe Bembury as creative director of the 'Pollex Pod' collection.

In this role, Bembury will aim to evolve his Crocs signature Pollex design and introduce new silhouettes and colorways within the collection. In particular, the first release of new silhouettes will be announced later this spring.

Crocs and Bembury first teamed up in 2021 to launch the Pollex Clog, introducing a new silhouette for the brand. In 2022, Crocs and Bembury released seven new colorways of the Pollex Clog, each selling out within the first few hours. The appointment is part of a two-year partnership.

"For many years, collaborations and product partnerships have been at the core of our brand strategy, and we are very proud of what we have been able to create in partnership with Salehe. His unique approach to design has brought a fresh perspective to our molded form and enabled us to connect with new consumers. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue this partnership and extend into dynamic new silhouettes," said Michelle Poole, Crocs brand president.

Bembury added: ”We exist in a landscape of 'here today, gone tomorrow' collaborations, so the value lies in long-term relationships and that's what we've established. Good design exercises restraint and balances utility with beauty and the Pollex Pod represents that by successfully merging Crocs' brand identity with my own brand identity.”

Earlier this week, Crocs also announced new customization capabilities with the launch of 'Customize Your Crocs'. The program allows organizations to customize bulk orders of Classic Clogs and 'Jibbitz' charms.

The program is ideal for sports teams, corporate groups, schools, or as general fun swag for small and large-scale groups, who can easily go online to choose a base color or graphic for their clog and backstrap and then, choose to upload an image or logo to the clog.

Crocs recorded record-breaking revenues for the fiscal year 2022. The Broomfield, Colorado-based company said revenues for the full-year totalled $3.6 billion, up 54%, compared to 2021. Crocs brand revenues increased 14.9%, to $2.7 billion.
