Creative beauty lights the way at London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week continued to inspire over the weekend with a wave of creative beauty looks that put an artistic spin on Spring/Summer 2018 makeup.

The eyes were the main focus at Emporio Armani's playful show, where the colorful collection was mirrored by jewel-toned metallic liner smudged in thick lines under the lower lids. Natural hair, glowing complexions and nude lips kept things nonchalant. It was an approach echoed by Topshop, which opted for matchy-matchy clothes and eyeshadow, leaving the rest of the face relatively makeup-free, and by Marta Jakubowski, whose models sported rainbow-hued eyeliner with a soft metallic lip.

Meanwhile, Jasper Conran matched the burnt sienna tones of his collection to tawny eyeshadows and freckled skin, while British darling Burberry opted for the ‘barefaced beauty' look, focusing on super-hydrated skin and a polished, nude lip. At Bora Aksu the blusher was the star of the show, applied in bold cerise tones from the temples to just below the cheekbones, using the ‘draping' technique reminiscent of 1980s frivolity. Paula Knorr's futuristic look revolved around the use of holographic highlighters -- a major current beauty trend -- and blunt bangs, while Hussein Chalayan threw a dose of the abstract into the mix, by sending his models down the runway sporting surrealist, flora-inspired headdresses, stripped-back makeup and delicate, angular drawn-on brows.
