There is a new man in charge at Courrèges. The French ready-to-wear label owned by Artemis, the Pinault family’s equity investment arm, appointed Adrien Da Maia as its new president a few weeks ago. Courrèges is currently focused on managing day-to-day business during the Covid-19 crisis, and has declined to comment on its future projects.

Da Maia, formerly the boss of French label Surface to Air, which debuted in 2004 and ceased trading in 2016, has also been in charge of the American markets for French acoustical engineering specialist Devialet, until the end of 2019. At Courrèges, he has taken over from Christina Ahlers, a former director of Acne, who had joined the French label in February 2018. Ahlers stepped down from her post at Courrèges soon after the official announcement of the departure of Creative Director Yolanda Zobel, who was hired in February 2018.

Courrèges was founded by André and Coqueline Courrèges in 1961, and was bought by Artemis at the end of 2017.
