Coterie cancels New York marketplace

Published
Jul 3, 2020

Informa Markets Fashion’s flagship New York-based fashion trade show Coterie is the latest apparel industry event to be canceled in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, as the company focuses its efforts on its newly launched digital show for fall 2020.

Coterie

The Coterie marketplace, which features the Fame, Moda, Sole Commerce, Project and Children’s Club shows, was supposed to take place at the Jacob Javits Center, September 22 through 24. The event usually attracts a wide range of domestic and international brands, retailers and industry executives.

The marketplace has been canceled in light of international travel and border restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as health and safety concerns, and the Coterie team will instead be working on its new digital event, launched in partnership with B2B e-commerce solution provider NuOrder.

The digital trade event, which runs September 1 through November 1, will be hosted on a centralized digital platform along with Magic, Project, Micam Americas and Children’s Club.

This platform will give brands and retailers access to NuOrder’s suite of digital features, which includes digital catalogs, line sheets, orders and virtual showrooms. With these tools, the event aims to allow exhibitors to gain further global exposure through enhanced brand storytelling, while offering buyers an easy and engaging way to browse and discover new products.

“Ultimately, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s physical event and focus our efforts on a dynamic return to the show floor in 2021 and on the opportunities that our digital marketplace can offer both our brand partners and retail buyers this season,” said Informa Markets Fashion president Nancy Walsh in a release.

“We have a lot of great ideas to enhance the physical experience at our show in the new year, and solutions to use digital in a more compelling way to enhance the experience for all of our customers starting this September,” she added.

Coterie’s partnership with NuOrder is part of a longer-term strategy being implemented by the trade fair with the aim of creating an integrated physical and digital approach to the fashion wholesale industry.
