Consumers expected to pack stores on Christmas Eve

Published
Dec 22, 2010

Based on the International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs holiday consumer tracking survey, 15% or 23.1 million consumers plan to shop on Christmas Eve.

Shoppers hit Oxford Street for last minute Christmas shopping

“The vast majority of the 23 million consumers shopping on that day will be doing so in shopping centers as it will be too late to order gifts online and have them under the tree on Christmas Day”, said Michael P. Kercheval, president and CEO of ICS.

After Christmas shopping is also expected to be relatively busy, according to the ICSC-GS survey, with 47% of consumers expecting to shop sometime during the workweek between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
