Show organiser Reed Midem has announced that the next session of the commercial real estate show Mapic in Cannes will be preceded by the first edition of a new event, dedicated to the integration of leisure facilities in commercial and private real estate.

The leisure facilities event will be held on the eve of Mapic - Reed Midem

At a time when 'retailtainment' and catering are at the heart of the development and extension strategies in commercial real estate, the creation of this new event comes as no surprise. In a similar vein, the event organiser had previously introduced the Mapic Outlet Summit and the Mapic Leisure Summit, of which the forthcoming Leisure Day event promises to be an augmented version. Reed Midem plans to attract operators specialising in e-gaming, theme parks, concert halls, museums, art galleries, spas and restaurants, as well as retailers, consumer brands and service providers.

“The digital revolution has transformed consumer behaviour, and people now have an appetite for experiences, conviviality, socialisation, cultural events and new discoveries,” said Nathalie Depetro, director of Mapic, adding that “the industry as a whole must rise to this challenge, introducing an extensive, diversified range of leisure opportunities to improve quality of life in cities and neighbourhoods. We have a stake in this change, and this is why we are launching this new event today.”

The next edition of Mapic will be held from November 13 to 15 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. The Mapic Leisure Day is scheduled on the eve of the show, on November 12, in the same location. The previous edition of Mapic featured 750 exhibitors, including a large number of real estate developers, from 80 countries, and attracted 8,500 visitors, of whom 2,000 were from the retail trade.
