Columbia launches Star Wars collection

Published
Dec 3, 2016

Sportswear brand Columbia announced on Friday it will be releasing a limited-edition Star Wars jacket collection. The three jackets are inspired by the new Star Wars film 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'.

The Captain Cassian Andor Rebel Parka - Columbia

Joe Boyle, Senior VP of Columbia Brand Merchandising and Design, stated, “We are extremely pleased to announce a first of its kind, outerwear collaboration with Lucasfilm. Star Wars is arguably the most globally recognizable film franchise in the world, and presents us with an unparalleled opportunity to showcase our brand and premier technologies.”

Each of the three jackets are inspired by and named after key Star Wars characters. The Jyn Erso Rebel Jacket, crafted of stretch twill cotton, is inspired by the jacket Sergeant Jyn Erso wears throughout the film. A genuine leather Rebel Alliance patch completes the jacket.

A Sherpa-lined parka, made with waterproof breathable fabric, is named after Captain Cassian Andor. Meanwhile, a rain coat, named after the Imperial Death Troopers, is waterproof and finished with reflective imperial army shoulder details inspired by the death trooper’s armor.

Prices for the collection retail between $400 for a twill jacket to $500 for the parka. This is the first time Columbia has released a movie merchandise collaboration, although the outdoor brand has partnered with many high-profile organizations in the past, including Manchester United and New York retailer Kith.

The collection will be available online and in Columbia retail locations on December 9th.
