Coats Group names Heather Lawrence non-exec director

Industrial threads producer and global footwear component manufacturer Coats Group has added to its non-executive director line-up with Heather Lawrence joining the board, effective 7 November. In addition, she will join its Audit and Risk Committee as chair designate, and the Nomination Committee.

Subject to shareholder approval of her nomination, Lawrence will succeed Nicholas Bull as chair of the Audit and Risk Committee following the 2023 Annual General Meeting on 17 May 2023.

Lawrence has spent well over a decade working in senior roles in corporate finance and investment banking. In her most recent role, she was a Managing Director at Citigroup, where she ran the Aviation and Travel franchise in EMEA.

Coats Group chair David Gosnell said: “Her in-depth knowledge and understanding of Finance across multiple industries is a huge asset for Coats.”

In September, Coats also hired Steve Murray, formerly Global Brand President of The North Face, as a non-executive director. He also sits on the group’s Audit and Risk Committee, the Nomination Committee and the Remuneration Committee.

At the time, Gosnell said its expanding board coincided with “an exciting period in the corporate story of Coats as it continues to accelerate its footwear business with the acquisitions of Texon and Rhenoflex."

This summer, Coats agreed to buy Germany’s Rhenoflex, the maker of sustainable structural materials for the footwear industry, for €115 million.
