Coach is about to end the year-long celebrations for its 75th anniversary in style. The party kicked off last February in Paris with a promotional ball, and will close on Thursday December 8 with a major runway show in New York.

It will be the chance for Stuart Vevers, the label's Creative Director, to organise a dual-gender event, showing for the first time in New York his new menswear collection for winter 2017-18, together with the women's pre-collection for autumn 2017. Until now, Coach's menswear had shown in London.

The label launched its women's ready-to-wear collection with the winter 2014-15 season, showing in New York. The following year it was the turn of the first menswear collection, for winter 2015-16, introduced instead on the London catwalks. Menswear never stopped growing after that, and now accounts for 16% of Coach's total sales, which in the 2015-16 fiscal year reached $4.49 billion, and is expected to rise even higher this year.

The US 'contemporary luxury' leather goods label has gone upmarket in the last few years, and has firmly planted its flag in New York, as the venue for its anniversary celebrations and home to its recently opened Coach House flagship store.

The latter is a 2,000 m2 store located at 685 Fifth Avenue, showcasing the label's full range, including accessories and ready-to-wear apparel for men and women.

"With our Coach House, we celebrate our New York heritage and 75 years of craftsmanship. By opening at the same time a Stuart Weitzman flagship store next to it, we are placing two New York-born labels [belonging to our group] on the same legendary site," said the group's CEO Victor Luis.

Last week, Coach also opened a 500 m2 store on London's Regent Street, and further European openings are on the cards: in 2017 the label is planning to open its first stores in both Italy and Germany.
