In the future, Clarks will most likely not look back upon this September very fondly. A week ago, its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer abruptly resigned. Revealed by Retail Week, the departures of Melissa Potter and Robin Beacham weaken a management team that was well established.

The CEO joined the brand 27 years ago and was named to the top position in 2010. Her right-hand person had been at the house since nine years.

Clarks has made the search for replacements a priority. President of the Board Thomas O'Neill has taken over as interim head for Potter while Mike Colley has done the same for Beacham.

The Clarks group has more than a thousand stores around the world, with a network of more than 300 stores in both the UK and the US.

For its last fiscal year ended in January, the group recorded £1.49 billion in revenue, with net income before taxes amounting to more than 121 million pounds.
