The MD of Clarks for the UK and EMEA region has stepped down from the footwear business. Joe Ulloa had been in his role since early 2021 but joined the company originally as retail and franchise director of the UK and Europe in 2017, working his way up to MD of the UK and Ireland then to his most recent role.

His job immediately prior to joining Clarks was at car accessories retailer Halfords, but he’s also worked as Group Operations Director at Snow + Rock, General Manager at L’Occitane, and as a Regional Director at Gap.

A replacement is being sought at Clarks with CEO Jonathan Ram stepping into his shoes for now in running the UK and Ireland operations.

A Clarks spokesperson has confirmed that he’s stepped down but gave no reason for his departure.

Clarks has been through lot of change in recent periods with new majority owners.

Its most recent results released in November said it had seen a period of “recovery and repositioning” as it rebuilt its business under the new owners and swung back to a profit following losses in the previous year.

This year it has launched some interesting product and marketing initiatives, including Clarks Originals linking with Salehe Bembury for a Lugger collab, as well as collaborating with Zara and Slam Jam, naming Set Free Richardson as the Creative Director for Originals, and launching a star-studded campaign to support the launch of the Torhill boot.
