Christian Louboutin is getting set for his big debut. The French designer, known for this luxury heels, will for the first time participate in the menswear tradeshow Pitti Uomo -- with a special project -- as the event takes place in Florence, June 13 to 16.

For now, no specific details have emerged surrounding the special event, except that it will combine "sport and style" and will call for eight competing teams from four regions of the world. Pitti guests will be invited to watch the tournament and will have the opportunity to participate in a series of masterclasses led by the sportsmen, though the types of sports aren't yet known. And members of the public can spectate too.

The sporting event will also highlight Christian Louboutin’s Homme spring/summer 2018 collection, which will feature luxury men's sneakers.

“Florence to me has always been a city of leisure. For the first time, I am happy to mix leisure and the pleasure of my work there,” said Louboutin in a press release.

The luxury shoe brand, founded in Paris in 1992, boasts 135 boutiques across the globe and has today diversified into cosmetics with the launch of Christian Louboutin Beauté. Its men's shoes currently represent more than 20% of total sales for Christian Louboutin.
