Chevrolet enlists the help of Isaac Mizrahi to sell cars

Published
Dec 3, 2012

Chevrolet is the latest car maker to eye-up the fashion world. For its new US model, the Malibu, the General Motors car manufacturer enlisted the help of Isaac Mizrahi to inject some fashion into its image. Thanks to hit show, Project Runway, Isaac Mizrahi is one of America’s most popular and talked about designers. The designer has created a capsule collection of just six pieces including handbags, shoes and watches, all of which are inspired by the car in question.

The collection was revealed in October in Detroit – the former car capital of the world – and has been on sale exclusively on deal-per-day website, LivingSocial. Inspired by the colours and shape of the Chevrolet Malibu, the car manufacturer is looking to promote the model through fashion.

Chevrolet has now joined the band of many car makers to have cashed in on fashion and lifestyle brands, most predominantly Mercedes-Benz with its involvement in fashion weeks across the globe, but also Ferrari, Porsche, Mini and Fiat who collaborated with Gucci and Diesel for the new Fiat 500. Smart have taken a similar route, unveiling a car designed by Jeremy Scott in LA recently.
