“This emblematic venue has been the showcase for the extraordinary decors imagined by Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear runway shows since 2005,” the house said in a release.
Lagerfeld has previously reimagined the legendary Grand Palais as a perfected Versailles gardens, a NASA space shot, a giant supermarket, a polar ice station and, most recently, an elegiac beachfront. Its soaring glass roof and immense space providing the perfect backdrop for the German couturier’s imagination.
“Karl Lagerfeld’s decision to hold the show at the Grand Palais demonstrates the close link between the House and this exceptional location, and confirms Chanel’s desire to contribute to the cultural and artistic influence of Paris around the world,” Chanel added in the statement.
