Chanel and Pharrell Williams confirmed this week that they’re to launch a co-created collection of ready-to-wear and accessories. The news was released as the long-time Chanel collaborator attended the label’s first fashion show in Bangkok.

But it looks like consumers will have to wait some time for the first pieces to hit the stores as the collection won’t launch until the end of March 2019, debuting initially in Seoul as the company opens its new flagship there, and rolling out globally from early April.

Williams has worked with the brand on and off since 2014, appearing that year in an ad campaign with Cara Delevigne and in 2016 walking the runway for its Métiers d’Art collection in Paris. He’s also appeared in campaigns for the label since then.

We don’t know many details about the upcoming collab, although Williams did appear at the show on Wednesday wearing a yellow Chanel sweatshirt, with sparkling oversized CC logo, which may or may not be part of the offer.

Regardless of what’s included, it will be Williams’ first shot at designing RTW, although he won’t be on his own as the line will be co-designed with brand creative chief Karl Lagerfeld.

Williams has previously co-created ultra-luxe sneakers for Chanel with Adidas Originals as part of a Chanel takeover of Colette. The Pharrell x Chanel x Adidas NMD Human Race sneakers were auctioned for €1,000 a pair.

But despite his limited RTW design experience, Williams does have strong links to the fashion sector. He co-owns denim specialist G-Star Raw and is co-founder of the Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream brands.
