Hayball was previously head of financial planning and analysis at Seasalt, a position he held for 10 months. Before that, he held senior financial positions with utilities firms Pennon Group and South West Water.

Celtic & Co managing director James Williams said Hayball joins the company as a “pivotal time for our business as we build on the success of the last two years. He brings a wealth of experience to the role and will be a great addition to our leadership team”.

Hayball joins at a time of increasing strength for the digital-centric retailer. In April, the company saw full-year sales leap 75% to £15.5 million. Both footwear and clothing categories made significant gains year-on-year, it noted, with demand for its locally-produced, hand-made sheepskin products hitting record levels.

The company has also secured important partnerships with high street retail giants Next, Marks & Spencer, and John Lewis.

Also in April, Celtic & Co appointed Katy Burnett as its new head of product and buying. She joined from Coast where she senior buyer for occasionwear, tailoring, footwear and accessories.
