Carl Tallents to join Matchesfashion as commercial chief

In the latest of a series of senior appointments, luxury fashion e-tailer Matchesfashion said on Thursday that Carl Tallents will be joining the business as Chief Commercial Officer in October. 

With over 18 years' experience in senior roles across sales, buying and merchandising, he’s “an established leader with successful experience in high-growth companies”. 

He joins from Frasers Group where he’s been Group Head of Luxury Brands over the last six years. His experience there will certainly be important as Frasers has been diving deeper into luxury in recent years with its Flannels chain in particular being a notable success story.

Tallents said: “I am looking forward to getting to know the team and thrilled to be working alongside [CEO] Nick [Beighton] to help deliver the next phase of Matchesfashion, a true market leader in modern luxury fashion globally.” 

Beighton added that he’s “a fantastic addition to our executive leadership team. We remain focused on our ambition to be THE luxury destination for customers in the world. Carl brings a depth of experience and leadership that will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth”.

As mentioned, the company has made a number of senior hires this year, including ex-ASOS CEO Beighton himself who joined recently. 

He has also just brought in Stuart Hilll from rival Farfetch as COO. Hill had previously worked with Beighton at ASOS and has been senior vice-president of logistics for four years at Farfetch.
