Capsule's Paris womenswear show to change location

American trade show Capsule - whose Paris edition came to a close this pass Sunday - will be changing location for its next womenswear event in March 2014. Moving from the Cité de la Mode et du Design and hot-footing it across the river. The show will now take place at the historic location of Le Tapis Rouge on the Rive Droite.

When contacted, the organisers confirmed that the menswear edition of the show – which actually showcases more brands – will continue to be held in the Cité de la Mode et du Design and insisted that its womenswear participants were enthusiastic about the change of address.

Inside Le Tapis Rouge

Constructed before the French Revolution, Le Tapis Rouge was formerly one of Paris’ biggest department stores. Today, the building is private conference centre and is often rented out for parties and brand events. Located in the 10th arrondissement, the building provides an intimate setting with various velvet-lined rooms ranging from 70m² to 500m² in size, offering 1700m² of floor space in total.

With many buyers not making it to the show due to its out-of-the-way location, Capsule’s spring-summer 2014 edition was not able to replicate the success it initially saw.

French tradeshow Woman had previously encountered a similar problem and decided in March to relocate to Paris’ 10th arrondissement. With its new location, Capsule Women hopes to benefit from traffic from the Paris showroom circuit which is centralized in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 10th arrondissements.
