Canterbury renews partnership with Irish Rugby Football Union
Pentland’s Canterbury has agreed to extend its kit partnership with the Irish Rugby Football Union for a further four years.
The deal will see Canterbury continue to supply kits to the country’s Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s, Under 20s and 7s national teams until 2024.
The sportswear brand said it will also support the organisation’s efforts to get more people involved in rugby by sponsoring an IRFU grass roots initiative for girls. Entitled ‘Canterbury Give it a Try’, the eight-week programme is designed to give young girls the opportunity to learn how to play rugby in a fun and safe environment.
Commenting on the deal, Padraig Power, commercial director at rish Rugby Football Union said: “Canterbury has been the Official Kit partner to the IRFU since 2014 and this four-year renewal will make our partnership one of the most enduring in rugby. The ongoing quality and appearance of the kit reflects the significant R&D and design expertise which Canterbury brings.”
Canterbury also supplies kits for England, but their partnership is coming to an end this September with UK-based rival Umbro taking over as the country’s new official kit supplier.
