Camden's Buck Street Market reopens

Eco-led Buck Street Market, the location run by Camden Market owner LabTech, reopens on Wednesday. The development, which is a sister location to the better-known Camden Market, will see 80% of its traders reopening, followed by its restaurants offer on July 18.

Buck Street comprises 88 recycled shipping containers that house the market and to add to its appeal by the end of this month, Camden’s largest rooftop (spanning 500 sq ft) will showcase a millennial pink terrace, complete with bright pink AstroTurf and a big screen.

Camden Market itself started its reopening on June 1 and Buck Street will follow the same range of social distancing and hygiene measures. That means a one-way system across the site, with directional way-finding arrows, installation of floor markers and public hand sanitiser stations.

And while some commentators have expressed concerns that the previous focus in the UK on reducing waste and other eco-friendly issues has been undermined by the pandemic, LabTech said Buck Street will retain its heavy eco positioning.

“All brands at Buck Street Market remain committed to sustainable practices and processes, with recycling points set throughout the destination, and a zero-single-use-plastic on-site policy,” it said.
