Calvin Klein unveils collaboration with Palace

Calvin Klein has dropped a collaboration with Palace. The London label’s fun aesthetic and signature graphics, rooted in skateboarding culture, have given a fresh look to a range of Calvin Klein items, from underwear to jeans, t-shirts, fleeces and lingerie, the latter a first for Palace.

The collaboration features the long-established US label’s classic palette of black, grey, white and beige, and all the items sport a specially designed logo blending the Calvin Klein lettering with Palace’s signature triangle logo, the Tri-Ferg.

The collection will be available from April 8 at Palace stores in London, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, and on both labels’ e-shops. Its style is a tribute to the Ck look of the 1990s. The denim items feature a deliberately pale, washed-out look, with contemporary details adding a new twist.

The collaboration’s key element is the Ck One unisex fragrance, for the first time in a reformulated version. “I feel so lucky to be able to launch our first-ever fragrance with Calvin Klein. Ck One disrupted the status quo, and to be able to make a new version of it in a Palace way has been a dream,” said Palace’s founder Lev Tanju.

“Since our first conversation, we established such a natural connection, reciprocal appreciation and understanding of the vision and DNA of our respective brands,” said Jacob Jordan, global chief merchant, head of product strategy & new product ventures at Calvin Klein. “For me it was truly exciting and stimulating to see how people outside of Calvin Klein interpret the brand and its history. The story we wanted to tell with Palace sprang to life in an entirely natural fashion, and we had great fun working on it. I hope people will perceive the same energy in the campaign and the products we have created together,” added Jordan.

The collaboration’s launch campaign was lensed and filmed by photographer Alasdair McLellan, with Max Pearmain as art director. It pictures the birthplaces of Calvin Klein and Palace, respectively New York and London, and features an international cast that includes cultural icons like Willem Dafoe, Dame Joan Collins and the Pet Shop Boys, the Palace Skate family with Lola Leon, Adwoa Aboah, Precious Lee and rapper Unknown T.
