Burberry, others announce new dates for London Fashion week shows

Published
Sep 13, 2022

Designers have been announcing the dates and times of their shows and presentations that have been moved due to clashes with the day of the Queen’s funeral. Burberry will now show in London at noon on 26 September.

The biggest name of the London Fashion Week schedule hasn’t yet announced a venue, however. It had been the first label to say it would cancel its shows when news of the Queen’s death broke last week. Its show will now take place between the end of Milan Fashion week and just before Paris.

The British Fashion Council had advised that all events scheduled for 19 September should be moved and also that parties and other such celebrations across the fashion week should be cancelled. But it continues to encourage visitors to come to LFW to support the designers in what should have been the first normal season post-pandemic.

While Burberry has chosen a date outside of LFW — confident that it’s a big enough draw to make an impact at any time — other labels are sticking as close to their original fashion week dates as possible. Richard Quinn’s SS23 show will now take place on 20 September at 7pm.

The final day of LFW was originally expected to be a quiet one but will now also include the rescheduled events of Eftychia, Emilia Wickstead, Sinead O’Dwyer, Pronounce, and Chet Lo.

Ancuța Sarca’s event due on Monday has been moved to Sunday, and the Christopher Kane show is also being moved to Sunday, while Chopova Lowena is moving to Friday, taking up the space vacated by Raf Simons who was another big name to announce early on that his show wouldn’t happen. Other Friday moves are Dilara Findikoglu and Helen Anthony. Paul & Joe will show on Saturday.

Roksanda, whose event had been due on Monday in one of the Royal Parks, is still looking at options. Also, the Zeynep Kartal show – dubbed Noblesse Oblige — has been switched to 27 September. The show will feature Amelia Windsor, who is a member of the royal family.

Patrick McDowell’s Jimmy Choo Academy show on Monday hasn’t had an alternative date announced yet, although press previews will still happen this week.
