Brand Architekts, which owns beauty brands including Dirty Works and Super Facialist, has rehired Chris How as interim chief executive officer following a change of direction earlier this year.

How served as group chief executive officer of the company, formerly known as Swallowfield, from July 2013 to June 2018. During this time, he oversaw the acquisition of the Brand Architekts beauty portfolio, which has now become the sole focus of the British group following the sale of its beauty manufacturing business to a Canadian firm.

Swallowfield adopted the new name of Brand Architekts and started trading under a new ticker on 28 August.

Explaining How’s appointment, the company said in a statement that “Chris already has detailed knowledge of the brands business and management team, which will enable him to provide dynamic leadership and support.”

The executive, who will not become a director of the board, will see Brand Architekts through this transitional period until a permanent successor is identified. He stepped down from his role as CEO in 2018 to pursue a non-executive portfolio career, and was replaced by Tim Perman, who left the company in September.

Brand Architekts said the new CEO will likely be external. An update is expected in early 2020.

Brendan Hynes will continue in his role as executive chairman.
