Challenger beauty firm Brand Architekts Group has appointed prestige beauty expert Amy Nelson-Bennett as an independent non-executive director, effective immediately.
Nelson-Bennett brings with her over 20 years in senior management experience, “driving strategic growth for global brands in retail, beauty and publishing sectors”.
She’s currently co-CEO of Positive Luxury, “the only sustainability assessment tailor-made for the luxury industry… awarding Butterfly Mark certification to brands, retailers and suppliers”.
Prior to this, Nelson-Bennett spent five years as Group CEO at Clive Christian Group and four years as president & CEO at Molton Brown.
She has also worked with a variety of companies — from start-ups to larger, privately-owned businesses — “delivering growth and improving profitability” and with a particular track record for modernising brands via digital commerce and marketing “in order to drive competitive advantage”.
Brand Architekts’ non-executive chairman, Roger McDowell, said: “Amy brings extensive experience in implementing brand strategies and leveraging digital capabilities. We look forward to her guidance over the coming years as the group continues to execute on its growth strategy.”
Trading figures released in July 2021 showed the brand struggling in its 52 weeks to 30 June after a year of “consolidation, transition and putting in place the strategic building blocks”.
Net sales for FY21 slipped 2.5% year-on-year to £15.9 million, as the pandemic impacted footfall for its high-street customers, it said. Although sales in the first half declined 10% to £9 million, at least that was flipped in the second half with 10% gain of £6.9 million.
