Boden names former Tesco director as new CEO

British clothing brand Boden has named long-time Tesco director Jill Easterbrook as its new CEO, replacing Julian Granville who will take the position of executive chairman.

Johnnie Boden, founder of the online and catalogue business, is set to become creative director.

Jill Easterbrook spent 15 years at Tesco, holding several roles such as group strategy director and managing director for clothing. She was mostly recently group transformation director before leaving the multinational grocery retailer in December 2015.

She has since then served as non-executive director at Auto Trader UK.

Her appointment signals a new era for Boden, which dropped profits by 25% last year. In the year to 31 December 2015, the retailer decreased pre-tax profits to £23.9m from £32m the previous year, despite a £2.3m increase in sales.
