Berghaus releases latest Ascension Series film with Scots climber Skelton

Pentland-owned brand Berghaus has released the second instalment of its outdoor documentary strand, The Ascension Series.

It has just debuted on the Berghaus YouTube channel and features Morag Skelton, a deaf climber “who refuses to let anything stand in the way of her love for nature and the great outdoors”.

Such feel-good stories are increasingly important to brand marketing programmes and they place brands’ Youtube channels among the premier ways they can connect to consumers and get their message across in detail.

The new episode shares how Skelton’s “family upbringing in Scotland has led her to relish in the challenges of the mountainside, pushing the limits of what's possible for any climber”. And it explores her belief that “nothing should come between anyone and getting out there in nature, and how she lives that belief every day”.

The company said that though “breathtaking visuals and candid interviews with Morag, viewers will gain a deeper understanding of the dedication and courage required to push through barriers and define oneself in the great outdoors. The episode also details her journey towards becoming a mountaineering climbing instructor, so she can help more deaf people get into climbing”.

The opening chapter had starred outdoors photographer, climber, and activist Adam Raja.

As with all episodes of The Ascension Series, the new one is available to watch with open captions, audio description, and on screen British Sign Language (BSL) translation versions.

Berghaus said the “commitment to accessibility makes The Ascension Series one of the first adventure film series to have all episodes released with these features, enabling a wider audience to enjoy and be inspired by the stories being told”.
