Belstaff has moved its flagship store in Glasgow from Princes Square to Ingram Street, where Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss and Mulberry are also housed.

The brand, best known for its motorcycle jackets, opened the 2,175 sq ft store on Ingram Street on Friday after signing a 10-year lease.

This remains the only place in Glasgow where Belstaff is available. And while the British outerwear brand has recently opened a further store in East London, the international retail presence of the label is shrinking as it turns its focus towards developing its wholesale business and growing in the UK.

In fact, Belstaff is preparing to close all six stores in Japan by the end of July, and will dissolve its Japanese subsidiary in September.

It also operates a store in Munich, Germany, and a further location is set to open in New York this year.

The recently launched shop in London’s Spitalfields market reveals details of the brand’s new store concept, which focuses on building a community by offering a space where customers can hang out and refuel.

The Ingram Street store includes a coffee bar, a library showcasing some of the brand’s most famous pieces and locally sourced furniture. Customers can take advantage of a re-waxing and restoration service.
