Indian beauty and wellness services marketplace BigStylist is seeking to raise up to $4 million from a new set of financial investors to support the development of own-brand cosmetics.

According to the Hindu Business Line, the Mumbai-based business is looking for a ₹1.5 billion valuation to close its Series A funding round with a 20% stake sale.

Launched in 2015, BigStylist is trying to revolutionise the way the Indian beauty and wellness services industry works with an online platform that allows customers to place orders and get access to experts through its website, mobile application or WhatsApp.

In addition to launching personal care products and developing cosmetics and products for styling, weight loss and skincare, BigStylist plans to expand its operations in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and NCR.

So far the company has secured funding from investments firm Info Edge, which has invested $2 million in the business in seed and pre Series A rounds.

Since its launch last year BigStylist has generated ₹50 million, or $742,000, in revenue and hopes to reach ₹4.5 billion ($66.7 million) in the next five years.
