BCBG Max Azria names Albino Riganello as new creative director

Published

The BCBG Group has named Albino Riganello to be its new creative director, in a shakeup at the French-born house.

Albino will make his debut with the brand‘s Fall 2022 collection, to be presented in February 2022.

Riganello joins BCBG Max Azria with an impressive CV, having worked for major houses in Milan, Paris, and New York.

The bearded designer began his career working with Alessandro dell’Acqua before going on to design for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, St. John and Givenchy, where he served as the women’s pre-collection design director under Riccardo Tisci. Riganello then moved on to couture house Zuhair Murad, and most recently served as design director for sustainable contemporary brand Amur.

“I am honored to begin my new role as BCBG Group’s creative director. BCBG Max Azria is an iconic brand that holds so much history in its DNA and I’m looking forward to taking the brand forward into its next chapter.  Today we live in a completely different reality than years ago, and women’s wardrobe is drastically evolving with the time. I will always have a woman’s needs in mind while designing for BCBG Max Azria; emphasizing femininity, sensuality and that modern aspect that the brand is known for,” said Riganello in a release.

After an up and down history, the BCBG Max Azria brand has been owned since by Marquee Brands. Founder Max Azria, who died back in May 2019, developed the label as a blend of French chic and sexy Americana.

“We are thrilled that Albino Riganello will bring his substantial knowledge and fashion industry experience to the BCBG team.  Albino has an impeccable eye and extensive knowledge of the evening business, which is what BCBG Max Azria is known for,” added Diane Bekhor, senior vice president, BCBG Group.

The house added that the BCBG Max Azria Fall 2022 Collection will be shown live on BCBG.com. And that Riganello will also debut designs for BCBG Generation further into 2022.
