London-based womenswear brand Baukjen and maternity wear specialist Isabella Oliver are the latest to join Emmanuel Macron’s G7 Fashion Pact, which aims to minimise the environmental impact of the fashion industry.

Hundreds of fashion and textile companies including Alexander McQueen Burberry, Chanel and Nike have joined the coalition since it launched on the eve of the G7 summit in August last year.

Signatories have committed to work towards shared and concrete goals in three areas: stopping global warming, restoring biodiversity and protecting the oceans.

The commitments are designed to be embraced by every company involved, including retailers, suppliers and distributors.

Geoff van Sonsbeeck, co-founder and CEO of Baukjen and Isabella Oliver said: “It’s time for significant change in our industry. We have the power to do better and as a united front we can make that change.”

He added: “At Baukjen and Isabella Oliver the objectives of the Fashion Pact complement our own. We will continue support and work on these important initiatives to drive positive change, doing our best to vastly minimise our industry’s impact to the environment. We are
passionate about our commitments to sustainability, working towards a brighter future for generations to come.”

In addition to supporting the Fashion Pact, both brands, known collectively as the House of Baukjen, have pending Certified B-Corporation status.
