Two high-calibre hires for Authentic Bespoke Group. The UK-based fashion and accessories group has appointed Deborah Lloyd and Giles English as board observers and advisors across its expanding portfolio.

Lloyd, most recently chief creative officer of Kate Spade, will be “committing significant time” to providing strategic advice and creative mentorship over the next two years. Working closely with creative director Alison Lloyd, founder of the group’s lead contemporary brand, Ally Capellino. Lloyd’s particular focus will be on its Tusting luxury heritage brand.

“Having Deborah’s sage advice at board level and guidance on the future strategy of Tusting is a real coup”, said AB chairman Stephen Murphy.

“The experience and knowledge she has accumulated over her long industry career including at Burberry, Daniel Hechter and latterly Kate Spade, is really invaluable”, he added.

Additionally, Giles English, co-founder of Bremont Watch Company, formally joins in the capacity of board observer, having unofficially advised the group since early 2020.

“Giles is a legend in the watch industry and has built Bremont into a remarkable international British brand from scratch in just over 18 years. We have learned all about collaborative marketing from Giles which will be even more evident over the next six months or so with launches such as India Hicks, and a ‘re-loved’ campaign with Barbour for the Tusting brand that will launch in Selfridges”, added CEO Rebecca Simonds.

Co-founded in 2017 by Murphy and Simmonds, the group’s companies include Budd (Shirt Makers), JR Tusting & Co, and Ally Capellino. AB Group also has two international subsidiaries in the US and China.

Murphy added: “The global pandemic has brought into focus the importance of having a multi-talented team, a strong e-commerce offering and the advantages of a local manufacturing base. We were fortunate that we had invested early in e-commerce, which in 2020 accounted for over 70% of group branded sales and had direct control over most of our manufacturing”.
